Phantasy Star Online Diary - Day 3

Today Sega Rolled out a fairly big update, supposedly. There was some rebalancing, experience tweaks, and higher encounter rates, among some other things. Unfortunately, my level is probably to low in order to appreciate this update. Also, the update broke my english patch, so I don't really know what's going on when people talk to me, or what I'm supposed to do when I start a quest. For this reason I cannot wait until Phantasy Star Online 2 get's released state-side.

I've been taking advantage of the game's system to invite npcs to your party, it's just a lot easier than waiting for someone to hopefully show up at this point in the game. Most other players have long since hit level cap. It's not so bad, though, considering the awesome multi party areas, so you still get that social interaction.
Bbut then THIS happened. Some red mist appeared out of nowhere, I was supposed to run from it but for some reason I was compelled to try to fight it. This proved to be a mistake, I was dead in seconds.
After restarting the quest, THIS happened. This huge freaking monster appeared and chased me all over the freaking map. Luckily I had run into an event earlier that caused an npc to follow and fight with me.

It must have taken me like 10 minutes and one death to defeat this thing, but thanks to a user who happened to be there at the time in the multi party area, I managed to dispatch the beast. Boy was that tough, but boy was it fun. Afterwords me and the convenient player chatted about changes between the original Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Online 2.
It was an exciting and productive day in Phantasy Star Online 2.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Diary - Day Two

So today started out fairly normal. Here I am, minding my own business in the forest (because I can't really go anywhere else yet.) For the most part I'm just trying to level and finish some orders. But then I got attacked by some weird red thing.

And then this happened. What the hell? All around me I was engulfed by a red vein like substance, and monsters were swarming me from all sides, with seemingly no way of escaping. Suffice to say I died, and lost the S-Rank I was going for. >:|
So I had to start over and I eventually got to the end. I think I'm beginning to get tired of these rockbears.
The spoils were entirely uninteresting too.

But then there was a message at the top of the screen that involved all players on the block. We got to jump right into some sort of epic boss battle.
We fought THIS thing, and we won.

And finally, I relaxed and decided to explore the shopping district a bit. I hadn't noticed the cities down there until now. Ultimately it was a slow day. Real life was interfering with my PSO2 time.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Diary - Day One

For whatever reason I can't break the habit of being low on health.

So, I started my day today not entirely sure what to do with myself, other then level a bit, so that's exactly what I decided to do.
My first friend!
I was excited to see my first party member! Unfortunately he was a doucher and logged out almost instantaneously. So I pushed on forward.

I ran into some trouble, and switched to my gunblade, which I love by the way. Not only does it bring memories of Final Fantasy VIII, it also allows the FO class to be somewhat competent in those earlier levels without having to kite.

Completed the Emergancy, somehow.
I apparently had learned Resta at some point, but because I'm a tard I didn't remember having it, and so I spent some time in the red, because monomates are more difficult to find in PSO2 for some reason. I don't know why.

What does this button do?
I accidentally hit a button, and to my surprise a manual aim mode became available! This is awesome, and isn't just a gimmick. Most attacks are manually dodge-able  but if you're shooting, strafing can become an issue. This solves that problem, allowing you to Manuela around your enemies as you turn them into swiss cheese.
Still only 7 HP haha
I played like this for longer than was necessary, but only because this is all new to me. Still it's really fun.

Finally realized I had Resta, and got my HP out of the red. Completed this silly quest, but my level was still low so I decided to do another one.

Let's party!
Finally, I found a party member, and this one stayed for a while! I'm not sure, but I think this person, Dreamcast, might have played on SCHThack's server at one point. S/He seems a bit familiar. Such a low level character, but has a sweet Mag, so you know Dreamcast has been around for a little while.

The plot, er, fog thickens.

I find these wolf like monsters to be a bit odd. Sometimes after taking damage in the middle of battle they'll lay down. Are they trying to heal or something?

I snap a picture with my new aquintance, Dreamcast. She then proceeds to give me a grand tour of the lobby and a shopping district that I didn't know even existed! A HUGE area, I managed to miss the teleporter. I was concerned that there wasn't a shop to buy items except from terminals like in the original Phantasy Star Online.

I must, I must, I must increase my bust.

While showing me the ropes, I got interrupted in the shopping district by this science-y looking lady with a deep voice. I have no clue what was going on, but because It was triggered automatically I assume she's talking about something important.

I proceed to help Dreamcast level a bit, and in return She continues to school me, as I'm obviously lost and have no clue what I'm doing.

She showed me this nifty auto follow feature :D
Rockin the Talis like a boss.
I am become Talis, Destroyer of Alien Roley Poleys.
Over time my party grew to 4 and we were working together to lay waste to these alien scum. Unfortunately after this I had to step out a bit and I lost the groove, and ended up leaving the party, but not before getting a friend request from Dreamcast. She was probably a bit annoyed with me :U

On my own time I decided to take in my surroundings a bit more. I found this TV, which was waaay too loud. I found it silly that it was playing PSO2 trailers. Almost seems like a redundant form of advertising  but it was still neat. There was a teaser for another game too, but I'm not sure what it was exactly.
Some mecha game.
I then discovered the armor tab in my inventory, and equipped some neat although somewhat silly looking armor units to my character. My feet have wheels now. It feels a bit tacky that way, but oh well. The stat boosts are nice.

Like Phantasy Star Online, during holidays it would seem the entire place gets pretty themed up. Ghosts, pumpkins, I even ran into a rappy that had a jack-o-lantern mask.

Moar television.
Vandalism with holiday spirit, who would think it.
This jack-o-lantern prop is huge, and neat.

I decided to hit up that beauty salon, and make a couple changes. I tried some funny combinations, but in the end I stuck with this weird head-tail-thing. The game will allow you to wear multiple glasses, and multiple hats for some reason. Unfortunately, not all of them fit 100% with my hair style.

I take a quick break, perched upon my favorite rest spot, on the top of a quest counter. Once I returned I headed back out to grind away some more.

I don't remember seeing these fields before, pretty.
There's that jack-o-lantern rappy :U
I ran into this lady.
...and then I ran into this . . . thing.
Oh god wat
Getting an S - Rank in this Nab Rappy Arrest quest was a pain.
After many tries I finally managed to do it.

Didn't Read LOL

I don't know why, but I don't think I actually like this red guy. He seems too friendly, too sure of himself. Cocky, that's the word. This guy is totally cocky.
But I love how carefree this cast is.
I don't even know why I bother with these cutscenes
if I can't understand them. I just have the urge to watch them.
HOLY what on earth is...
OH GOD WHY. There's no freaking way.
I never had any doubt at all that I could defeat this monster.
Shaula's First Teleporter.

After that last quest, and that rock monster, I decided to peek at the user shops. Unfortunately I couldn't sell anything myself... I'd love to move this furniture I collected. But I did happen to find a costume in my price range. I'm not sure if it was a good deal or not but I'm happy with the new look for a little bit.

From this point on I decided to take up all the orders I could, and fullfilled as many as possible. This eventually lead to me unlocking a Mag! It's puny, and the mag system seems a bit more complex than before. It actually kind of reminds of Phantasy Star Zero a bit. You can even feed it weapons. It seems that you can only feed when the mag's energy is low, and I suppose that means you either have to wait, or do a lot in battle to make it hungry again. I'm not sure about this though. That being said, it seems like it might be a bit difficult to get this Mag to be pure Technique. But at least the menu shows you what an item will do before you feed it, a definite improvement over Phantasy Star Online.

That's it for today! Until next time!
